A successful first riding
166 intrepid riders braved the cool, gray morning for the inaugural ride of the Raven Rock Ramble.
Of those who indicated a distance, 40 cyclists rode the full century, 71 took the metric, and 26
opted for the 50K. Consensus: the routes were good, the road markings
excellent, the hills bigger than advertised, and the food fantastic. Over
$3000 was raised for the National Kidney Foundation.
Tom Sheffield, of North Raleigh Road Dog fame, wrote a review of the event at
http://www.ncbikeclub.org/ride_summaries/Raven_Rock_Ramble.htm.
Blake Lambert, one of the in-line skaters, posted numerous photos he took at http://roadskater.dynu.com/rav2002/index.htm.
